Where is Bae Rona? The Olympian theory continues…

SPOILER ALERT: The following contains spoilers from Penthouse and Penthouse 2.

Penthouse 2 via SBS

Prefer a video? I have one here.

I would just like to start out by saying that these two episodes were so frustrating that I almost stopped watching.

Bae Rona, while she was annoying at times, was literally the only character left to root for. I feel betrayed by Ha Yooncheol, and I honestly lost all hope for anyone.

Then Shim Suryeon appeared and gave me hope for the rest of the season.

The thing I know for sure is that next episodes are about to be crazy… every plot that they’ve spent developing the last 6 episodes is about to be explored, and I am really excited to see what is going to happen.

Now, Let’s get to the theory:

In my original theory video, I associated Bae Rona with the greek goddess Persephone.

This is based off of many things, which I do reference in my original video.

While I wasn’t 100% percent correct yet, I do think there is some truth to what I said… Here’s why:

I am pretty sure we are all on the same page here. Bae Rona isn’t actually dead. Right after we assume Ha Yooncheol was going to kill Bae Rona while she is in the coma, we see a faceless character with leather gloves. The general consensus is that it is actually Logan Lee.

I would be in agreement with that… for the most part. Thinking about Bae Rona’s relationship with Logan Lee, it is incredibly possible that they have a plan together and/or Logan has her comatose body somewhere to keep her safe.

This completely lines up with my theory, theres no question about it. When I first compared Bae Rona to Persephone I had either a new character or an existing character in mind. I did have the link of Logan Lee to Hades in the back of my mind, and I think it’s completely possible that he has two associations with Greek Gods, as many other characters have multiple associations in my original theory.

I do, however, have another, a bit more wild possibility in mind as well.

As I mentioned in the video for episodes 3 and 4, I tentatively associated Lee Kyujin with the Greek god of the underworld Hades. This wasn’t really based off of much: He carries a dog shaped bag and was positioned in a certain way in the “penthouse statue”, but I actually think there is a big possibility for him to do something extra crazy this season.

In the past few episodes we’ve seen Lee Kyujin as an assemblyman. He has been shown to have done this in order to get more power both within Hera Palace and outside of it.

In the past two episodes, we’ve even seen him be the active antagonist for the first time in his conflict with Jenni’s mom.

Until this point he and his family have been comic relief, often times in slightly inappropriate situations.

To me, it is incredibly possible that HE was the one who took Bae Rona’s body for reasons unknown at this point.

After the news breaks out that the Janitor took the blame for Bae Rona’s case, both Lee Kyujin and his wife, Go Sangah, are quick to accept it as fact, UNTIL the very end of where his wife becomes suspicious. It cuts way from her right after she says this, so we don’t see what they say to each other afterwards. What if they both realized that this is a cover up for Eunbyeol and Cheon Seojin. After all, it directly cuts to them watching the same broadcast. What if this is to show that they suspect them. I mean, who wouldn’t? Both Bae Rona and Ha Eunbyeol were missing at the time of the incident AND Eunbyeol hasn’t gone in for questioning yet. Honestly anyone should be able to see it was her based solely on this.

Then we see the person with the leather gloves take Bae Rona off of life support. Judging by the clothing, and more logical sense, this has to be Logan Lee. HOWEVER, this scene DIRECTLY cuts to Lee Kyujin and his family. He literally bad mouths her and calls her a bully… so I don’t think he would’ve have saved her in this situation, but very well could have been the one to kill her assuming she is actually dead.

He could have “fake” killed her in order to take the minds of the students off of her so they can complete their exams, but kept her alive because he pities her.

In the scene his wife then says “every crisis is an opportunity” to which he agrees. Taking Bae Rona’s body, and keeping her alive, gives him the absolute most power in this situation. He could essentially get Oh Yoonhee to do anything, he could use her as a bargaining chip with Joo Dantae, and he could use her against Cheon Seojin and Ha YoonCheol. With Bae Rona’s body he has exactly what he has wanted this whole time, power.

He comes off as not very bright and as not even having a chance at being the most powerful in Hera Palace, but he has wanted that all along.

This theory is a bit out there, and I don’t even necessarily think it’s what happened, but I do think it’s a possibility.

I am leaning toward Logan Lee and Shim Suryeon (should she be still alive) working together.

Bae Rona’s death would be a good punishment for Oh Yoonhee, but keeping her alive is definitely more Shim Suryeon’s style.

To be honest I don’t even know if Oh Yoonhee should be expected to pay for Min Seola’s death with her own. She is prepared to die as we saw her at Bae Rona’s grave, but I honestly believe that living with the guilt her whole life is more of a punishment. Even if she doesn’t really seem guilty right now, she now knows what it is like to lose a child.

Penthouse is filled with both predictable and unpredictable plot points. Basically anything goes in this drama, and that is what makes it so entertaining. There needs to be a balance of predictable events and unpredictable events.

Just when I was so upset that there was literally no one to like anymore with the death of Bae Rona, Shim Suryeon (or her twin) arrives in the picture. We need to have a character to root for. I’m looking forward to some more answers in the coming episodes. We just passed the halfway mark in this season, so expect the plot developments to unfold in the next 6 episodes, as well as some new questions to be risen for season 3.
